Location
As of this writing, there are three Capital One Lounge locations. They are located in Dallas, Dulles (Washington D.C.), and Denver. Our local airport is Denver, so that lounge is a frequent occurrence for us. In fact, our kids consistently beg to leave early for the airport so they can live “lounge life.”
Access
You can easily access this lounge with your Capital One Venture X card, as many times as you like. This card will provide you and two guests access with an outgoing flight ticket. Kids two and under are free.
A Capital One Venture card or Spark Business card will give you one time access twice per year through 1/1/2025 when these cards lose this benefit.
Your third option is to pay cash at a whopping $65 per person. I personally would not pay this fee, unless I had a long layover and needed a shower and a nap along with my food.
The Food
The food in these lounges is crafted to reflect the regional fare. This is no continental buffet, everything is individually portioned, in beautiful, small plates. There are not only specialty food choices, but also handcrafted regional drink options as well. My kids personal favorite is the cookie/brownie selection, which thankfully provides small bags to take some extras to-go.
The Atmosphere
This lounge is classy yet welcoming. The vibe is laid back but the amenities are well thought out and well cared for. The staff is incredibly attentive and helpful. In Denver, there are two large seating sections with tables and chairs, as well as a bar, and individual rooms for calls, and some separate chairs for those who would like some space to rest. There is also a relaxation room which I have yet to venture towards.
Family Friendliness
This lounge wins a great family friendly award. When entering this space, I always discuss appropriate behavior with my kids, but the staff has been so encouraging. We have received stickers and bibs and candy, and so much attention from the staff who is eager to please. They have at times offered us the family room space to get some energy out, which is a small but private room. And when traveling alone with three kids, the staff was there to clear our plates before I could even stand up.
This private family room has not only changing tables and chairs, but bottle warmers, bibs, diapers, wipes, and child sized chairs.
Grab and Go
The grab and go section here shines. If you are there for breakfast, get the breakfast sandwich. It does not disappoint. They have a variety of snacks, sandwiches, bubbly water, pudding, coffee, and even ICED CHAI to go. I’m not sure if you could tell which of those is my favorites but I’ll leave you in suspense.
The staff in this area has small bags that make it easy to carry your plethora of goodies to the gate. This is a great stop before a long travel day and has filled the snack needs for our family when waiting for flights, rental cars, and hotel clerks.
Conclusion
This lounge hits it out of the park, and if your home airport is near one of these locations, I would highly recommend the Capital One Venture X card. The flexibility in eating at airports that this card has given us will have me forever grateful.
