What is the Capital One Venture X Business Card?
The Capital One Venture X Business card is the newest business card to enter the scene. It comes with a welcome bonus of 150,000 bonus miles with $30,000 of spending in the first 3 months and a $395 annual fee. While this may make a lot of us want to write if off immediately because, who has that kind of money lying around? Let me make the case for this card without the signup bonus.
What are the perks?
- 2x points on every purchase
- $300 annual travel credit for travel purchased in the Capital One portal
- $100 statement credit for Precheck or Global Entry
- Complimentary Priority Pass Membership for free entry for you and two guests
- Unlimited entry for you and 2 guests to Capital One Lounges
- 10,000 bonus miles on your account anniversary
Is the sign up bonus worth it?
If you have 10 grand in spending every month, go for it. For the average joe like us, this is not happening. The only other circumstances this might work for is someone utilizing a small business tax payment to hit the minimum spend or if you have some large home renovation expenses, or have significant monthly business expenses. For those of you who do not have these expenses, consider looking at this for the benefits, and not the sign up bonus.
Conclusion
While we may be tempted to write off this card as we are consistently chasing sign up bonuses, don’t count this card out as a solid wallet option. This card shouldn’t* hit your 5/24, and it comes with 2x points which always helps in categories that have no multipliers. If you are looking for lounge access and the perks of the Venture X, but struggling to stay under 5/24, this card may be a good choice for you!
*It is being reported that this card will not hit your 5/24, but we have not seen definitive proof of that yet.
